The San Diego Wild Animal Park is a 1,800-acre wildlife sanctuary that houses more than 3,200 animals representing more than 400 species. The animals roam in herds and flocks in vast enclosures resembling their native homelands. Highlights include: the Heart of Africa, a 32-acre walking safari through African wilderness where guests can view okapis, cheetahs, giant eland, colobus monkeys, warthogs, hornbills, flamingos and the largest crash of rhinos in any zoological facility; Condor Ridge, a North American habitat featuring the only California condor exhibit in the world; and, the newly renovated gorilla habitat which features 11 Western lowland gorillas.

Ride the Wgasa Bush Line Railway, a 5-mile, 65-minute tour, to view a variety of habitats and animals throughout the park or choose a photo caravan, which offers guests an intimate adventure in an open-air truck where close-up photography experiences with exotic animals is the norm. Hands-on and educational opportunities abound for children and parents alike. Be sure to feed the giraffes in the Heart of Africa exhibit. And the kids will love the animal shows, behind-the-scenes educational tours, petting kraal and overnight camping opportunities.
