Coronado also hosts a number of beautiful white sandy beaches as well as several lush green parks. Coronado's main beach runs parallel to Ocean Boulevard, stretching between the Hotel Del Coronado and Naval Air Station North Island. The beach was recently named the 2nd best beach in the United States by the Travel Channel and the “Best Beach for Families” by U.S.A. Today. With its expansive white sand beach, views of the Pacific Ocean and nearby Point Loma, and fabulous California sunsets, it's easy to see why it has won so many awards. At the north end of this beach is Dog Beach, where dogs can enjoy the fun with their human counterparts. And, of course, no Southern California beach would be complete without the Pacific waves that make for the outstanding surfing for which the area is famous. Surfboards, Boogie boards and other ocean gear can be rented at several places in town.

Coronado's other beaches include: Glorietta Bay Beach, located south of Glorietta Bay, this small beach has a unique view of the bay and the Coronado Bridge, and hosts a grassy park, playground equipment and restrooms; Silver Strand State Beach, 4 ½ miles south of Coronado village, has fire rings, lifeguards, restrooms and showers; and, Ferry Landing Beach, adjacent to the fishing/ferry pier in Ferry Landing, this beach has sweeping views of San Diego Bay and the city's skyline as well as a grassy lawn, restrooms and free parking.
